Swiss sportswear brand X-BIONIC launches its first trail running shoe, the TerraSkin, a model they have worked on for over two years to provide athletes with an unprecedented experience.

The goal was to develop a system that combined cushioning with a unique degree of control, and they have achieved this.

The TerraSkin, with its innovative technological breakthrough, was recognized with the prestigious ISPO award before its official market launch.

X-BIONIC drew on its years of experience designing technical athletic socks with its X-SOCKS brand, X-BIONIC, to design and develop the TerraSkin.

Each layer between the sock, the shoe, and the ground has been meticulously considered and designed to ensure each element interacts seamlessly and comfortably, resulting in an innovative trail shoe that provides the control needed for a smooth stride.

XTERRA utilizes three new technologies to minimize energy loss between the shoe and the ground, maximizing grip, stability, and responsiveness.

SPEEDFRAME® Technology. The yin-yang concept is also evident in the upper and outsole of the TerraSkin shoe. Instead of the conventional method of gluing or stitching elements, the unique, patented construction creates a unified, functional whole. The upper and outsole wrap around each other, improving control and stability, and enriching the running experience.

POWER-LITE® Carbon. Responsiveness, stability, and energy conservation are ensured by a patented asymmetrical structure that efficiently captures and dissipates energy. The special horseshoe-shaped design allows the sole to flexibly adapt to ground conditions, offering unprecedented support on uneven terrain—a crucial advantage for trail runners.

SPINWEAVE® Technology. X-BIONIC partnered with sole experts at Vibram to create a patented sole featuring SPINWEAVE® technology, designed to adapt to any terrain, no matter how uneven. Findings from a long-term study conducted by CeRiSM at the University of Verona show that products incorporating SPINWEAVE® technology have greater ground contact compared to two competing products in the trail running sector, providing better grip.

Additionally, the TerraSkin comes with a matching pair of X-SOCKS to optimize the interface between the sock and the upper, so they work seamlessly together. With technologies such as SKINKNIT®, with a unique upper design, the combination of double elastic and non-elastic woven yarns allows the shoe to fit any foot shape like a second sock, adapting to each user.
